Introduction

I recently began my journey in crafting native American-style flutes, and this website is being  created as a documentation of my learning process. While I am happy to share my experience, it is important to note that my workflow may not be perfect or entirely accurate. Despite this, I have found satisfaction in the quality of flutes I have produced thus far. However, I remain dedicated to refining my craft in order to produce a better sound and to fully comprehend all of the parameters that affect tone quality. I welcome your input and feedback to help me improve my workflow.

This website will specifically focus on the creation of a C4 minor pentatonic mode 1&4 flute (440Hz). The workflow will be identical for other pitches, but the dimensions, including bore diameter, finger holes, and TSH, will vary.

The flute is called “New Beginning” and the used materials and the bird design are reflecting this name:
1. In some native american tribes walnut is standing for clarity and focus which is a good base for a new beginning.
2. The malachit inlay is green which represents growth and new beginning in nature.
3. The butterfly represents transformation and is the perfect symbol for a new beginning when it starts to fly.
4. The larimar stone on the butterfly stands for clarity and restorative energy which is needed for a new beginning.
